The Origins of Yoga

The origins of yoga can be traced back more than 5,000 years. A discipline first practised in Northern India. It is designed to help improve muscle strength and flexibility, breathing, circulatory and heart health, balance and gait.

Correctly practised, it can also help relieve feelings of anxiety, depression and PTSD. And boost memory, concentration and focus. Helping keep body and mind functioning and active for longer.

Although there are several different forms of yoga, Hatha yoga is the most popular, and the type you are more likely to meet in your hotel yoga classes.

Easy to master compared to some of the more advanced forms. With a selection of mild sequences and an induction into meditation, Hatha is ideal for those new to the discipline. Or those already beginning to experience aching or stiffness in various joints, or increased anxiety.

If you’ve never considered it before, on your next hotel visit, put a little time aside and enquire about yoga. In today’s world, where stress and pressure are becoming an increasing problem both at home and in the workplace, booking a couple of the hotel’s yoga classes may be all you need to put you on the path to a more relaxed, fulfilling lifestyle.
